About Me

Welcome to Roots!

My name is Taylor Carlyon and I am currently a college student living in St. Louis. I am passionate about all things plants and gardening and have spent the past three summers working at local greenhouses.

Why do this?

  • To share some of my favorite tips and tricks that I have learned through my work at the greenhouses.
  • To assist those new to planting and gardening by providing them with the knowledge needed to be successful in their planting endeavors.

When I first started working at my local greenhouse, I knew nothing about plants or gardening. In fact, I hated plants and could not understand how anyone could enjoy gardening.

However, after spending time in the greenhouses, caring for the plants, and learning more about all the different varieties of plants, my heart began to soften. In fact, I began to love going to work and could not wait to go back and learn more. Before I knew it, I had discovered a new love and passion of mine. I loved getting to interact with the customers and teach them about how to choose the right plant, how to plant it, and how to best care for it. I wanted to share with them the knowledge I had gained in order to spark the same love and passion for plants in them that had been sparked in me.

Now that my local greenhouse has closed and I no longer get the same opportunity to interact with or share my knowledge with customers, I want to use this blog as a way to continue to share with others.
